4 Myths that Keep You From Being and Becoming More Creative

4 Myths that Keep You From Being and
Becoming More Creative

Since reading two articles written by Dr. E. Paul Torrance
about creative thinking and creativeness where he
wrote about how to measure potential for creative thinking and creativeness
and wrote about his position that ALL HUMAN BEINGS are born
with vast potential for creative thinking and creativeness I have devoted
my work and life to

1. inviting people to accept that they were born with capabilities to be creative
    and to think creatively.

2. encouraging people to accept that creative thinking and creativeness can be learned,
    developed.

3. inviting supervisors, team leaders, managers, leaders, CEOs, owners of companies
to accept their role in S.P.R.E.A.D.ng creative thinking throughout their companies,
    corporations, organizations

Supporting
Promoting
Recognizing/Rewarding
Encouraging/Educating
Applying and increasing the Attitude for
Developing

Creative thinking in themselves and all people they are involved with.

After attending my first Creative Problem Solving Institute in 1978 I began to develop
my G.A.P.S. of Creative Thinking - 4 primary myths why the greatest percentage
of people do not think they are creative nor try to be.

G - Gift - still after 60 to 100 years of many writers, speakers, consultants and trainers
most people think that Creative Thinking and Creativeness are gifts
that only a small percentage of people are born with.

A - Attitude
too many supervisors, team leaders, managers, leaders, CEOS, owners of companies to
corporation still do not accept or understand that attitude impacts creative thinking and
                 creativeness

the attitude in a single mind or workplace greatly impacts or kills
the amount of creative thinking that is done there.

P - Process
too many people still are not aware or simply do not accept that
creative thinking and creativeness are the result of using processes
                 consciously or subconsciously

S - Strategy
too many people are not aware or accept that being creative or thinking creatively
is a strategy, a choice, that ALL people and groups to corporations can choose
to live by each day of their lives.

Rober von Oech wrote about 10 things that stopped or killed Creative Thinking
in his book WHACK ON THE SIDE OF THE HEAD in the late 70s or early 80s.

Hundreds of other authors have written similar lists of 5, 7, 12, hundreds of reasons
why people are not creative nor choose to use creative thinking.

Don't be one of those people in 2015.

Accept you have GIFTS
Choose a positive ATTITUDE
USE PROCESSES that are known to work
Select a STRATEGY that helps you be more creative and to think creatively daily.

Best wishes,

Alan
